Saving water in the East Valley
Chandler is a city in Maricopa County in the Phoenix metro's East Valley. Keeping natural grass green through a long desert summer takes regular watering and mowing, so many homeowners switch some or all of their lawn to turf.
The base is what makes turf last: old grass and roots come out, then a compacted, well-draining base goes in so the surface stays even and drains after monsoon storms.
Dogs, kids and backyard games
Pet turf with a drainage-friendly backing, plus regular rinsing, keeps dog areas clean. Play areas and putting greens are popular add-ons.
Turf heats up in direct sun, so many families place play areas near shade from patio covers or trees.
Before you get a Chandler quote
- Review your HOA's landscape rules. Under A.R.S. 33-1819 an HOA can't ban drought-tolerant landscaping where grass is allowed, but it can set reasonable rules.
- Call Arizona 811 at least two full working days before digging; most installers handle this.
- Ask about base depth, drainage and how irrigation lines will be capped.
- Ask about the warranty on both the turf and the labor.
